A violin
After looking at the Dave Black site and his technique referred to as “Light Painting,” I decided to try a little light painting of my own. I shined up my daughter’s violin and went into our windowless bathroom with a piece of black fabric, a small flashlight, and my fingers crossed. Exposure for the violin was set for 30 seconds, and I shined the flashlight on the violin in three different positions for about eight seconds. Then I would move (if I needed to) and shine again.
You may have to adjust your screen settings if the pictures appear very dark. As usual, the prints scanned much darker than they are “in real life.” The prints in my hand have no unlit areas on the violin. This is something you should try at home. It’s fun, and a good technique to work on.
